Time to Slow Things Down

It's Sunday morning, and Reflections is always a little more personal and rarely about marketing and business. And most often, whatever I'm writing about is the result of something that happened over the past week.

This past week was insane; not bad, just incredibly busy. We put a new roof on the house, and now the exterior is being painted. Painters have been everywhere. Then, Sheila and I both had commitments, one car to share since hers is in the shop, and a long list of distractions. In my life, I'm stepping down as CMO for Platypod. I'll still be involved, but the role had become a full-time job, and I want to get back to my core business and some other projects.

Yesterday morning I burst out laughing when I realized BOTH of us had forgotten our 13th wedding anniversary on Thursday. And I refuse to accept that it's aging - we were just so busy getting things done that we lost track of time without acknowledging the calendar! We were both so looking forward to the long weekend that we missed the weekdays.

So, here's my point - Sheila and I need to slow down a little, and I know we're not alone. Most of you are intermittently in the same boat. We're all so focused on things that often don't matter, and we miss the important moments - we don't stop to smell the roses, and before you smell them, you need to get them in the house!
Life is all about balance.
You don't always need to be getting stuff done.
Sometimes is perfectly okay and necessary to shut down, kick back and do nothing.

Lori Deschene
Wishing everybody a weekend filled with time to simply kick back and do nothing. And while you're doing nothing, think about all those people who help to make your life special. They're the ones who can help you slow down the clock and remove the distractions.

To my wife, we both missed our anniversary, which is a good thing - because time really does fly when you're having a good time. What a kick it's been - time to make more memories!

Happy Sunday everybody!

Good thing you both forgot. Imagine if one of you had remembered!
A friend on Facebook shared a "Shouldn't you be doing something else?" quote. I replied that even if you were doing something else there would always be something else to do. When do we stop!?
