Sunday Evening Reflections...and Sarcasm

When I wrote this, it was Sunday morning. As usual with "Reflections," I'm way off track from business and photography. Why more so than usual? Because I wrote this while packed into a Frontier flight to Las Vegas for WPPI, which was after getting up at 3:45 AM to drive to Tampa Airport.

I may have been a little off-base and tired, but that doesn't mean I was without humor or sarcasm and a series of observations of the world around me in the early hours of the day.

SARCASM ALERT!

  • What is it about jackasses on the road at 4:00 AM? The speed limit is 70. I set my cruise control at 74 and then just aimed the car north. Three times I'd pass slower drivers, never changing my speed, only to have them speed up, ride my tail, and then pass me. That would have been fine, but then they slowed down again.
  • It was an early morning flight, but with Frontier, who had the first non-stop of the day to Las Vegas, it was pure chaos. This is the airline that charges you for everything, including your carry-on, but can't figure out how to do curbside check-in. The result was a line of fifty irritated flyers who looked at their watches every 45 seconds worrying about making their flights.
  • It was too early to grab something to eat while I was still home. So, I figured I'd grab something at the airport - fine-dining at its best with everybody having the same idea. Because it took so long at Frontier to check my bag, time was minimal. I settled on a pre-made sandwich at the all-inclusive bookstore. As I chased it down with a Pepto-Bismol, I realized there were a couple of other places with breakfast that might have been better, but who thinks about Panda Express this early in the morning?
  • This is my first Frontier flight in a long time – What happened to a tray table and enough room to move my arms? Oops forgot this was Frontier…a friend of mine said that if the Oxygen mask came down on a Frontier flight, you'd have to swap your credit card first to use it!
  • The best part of the flight is the couple in the window and the middle seat next to me. They're happy…have a sense of humor, and I promised her a photo credit. So, just for a little artwork to add to the post, I asked her to grab this shot of my laptop and trying to type while being a human sardine!
  • Last but not least, in this collection of hit-parade sarcasm...I figured out why they named it Frontier Airlines. It's because the seats are almost as comfortable as the wooden seat on a covered wagon as the settlers headed west to the new frontier in the 1800s.

Anyway, it's late in the day, and I'm finally checked in, and Sunday Morning Reflections is fact becoming an evening production.

Wishing all of you a day filled with as much sarcasm as you enjoy and plenty of humor. Remember, it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile. Go for those eleven-second therapeutic hugs I always write about and enjoy the evening or the morning on the other side of the world.

And, if you're at WPPI this week, come by Platypod, booth 1029 and say hello. We'll have working prototypes of the new Platyball, and it's always great to meet you guys on planet earth instead of in Cyberspace!

Happy Sunday!
