Just a Saturday Morning THANKS

There are a lot of mornings that just start out with me thinking about how much I love the path I'm currently on in terms of my career. Those of you who know me well, already understand how much I love this industry and helping all of you who are part of it.

While I'm pretty much a one man band, I have some amazing friends and associates. I  also have a pretty remarkable wife, who many of you have met at various programs. Sheila has helped me a lot with various aspects of the business.

SCU has also been supported by some amazing partners, companies who believe in education and helping you raise the bar on your skill set. They believe, like I do, that if we can help you become better artists and business people, then the reputation of the entire industry gets raised.

But most important of all in helping to build SCU are all of you, my readers. You have given me incredible feedback and shared your passion for the craft. From ideas for the blog to specific requests for workshop content, Google+ Hangouts and webcasts, without you, who knows what I'd be writing or talking about?

We've all helped each other and what started out as a pipe dream for me, this week had some terrific confirmations that this is the right path.

  • Resource Magazine put SCU on their list of their eighteen favorite blogs to follow, with SCU at number 3.
  • Eyefi.com had me in the top 100 Most Socially Influential Photographers
  • On Monday of this week we launched a new forum on Facebook called Going Pro and we're coming up on 800 members in just the first week. It's made up of the finest group of moderators I've ever worked with and there are more to come.
  • Then there's my own activity on Twitter - thanks to so many of you, I'm coming up on a 20,000 follower milestone.
To say "I couldn't have done it without you" would be a huge understatement! It's your support and feedback, both good and bad, that's made this transition from the publishing/trade show side of the business so amazing.

"A good friend is a connection to life...a tie to the past, a road to the future,
the key to sanity in a totally insane world."

Lois Wyse
Thanks to so many of you for becoming such good friends!

I've said this before, but it's so rare any of you take me up on the offer.  You know where to find me if I can help you with anything. We're all too close to our own businesses and sometimes all you need is a fresh pair of eyes.

Wishing everybody a great weekend!

    "Why?"

Check out "Why?" one of the most popular features on the SCU Blog. It's a very simple concept - one image, one artist and one short sound bite. Each artist shares what makes the image one of their most favorite. We're over 100 artists featured since the project started. Click on the link above and you can scroll through all of the episodes to date.
