My good buddy, Nick Vedros sent this over to me and it really belongs on his page, Nick's Picks, but I loved the introduction so much, I immediately started to build a blog post around it.
This is about people chasing their dreams and while it has little to do with imaging directly, indirectly they couldn't tell the story without some great cinematography. Also, pay attention to the way the story is being told about the company and people who build these WWI replicas. At one point it hit me that somebody should do the same with a 4x5 camera - taking young artists today, who think they can fix it all in Photoshop back to shooting 4x5 chromes! A quote from one of the pilots featured in the introduction says it all. Don't just listen to the quote below from his perspective, but think about it as it applies to your own business. Apply it to the excitement you feel starting out a new year and being able to turn your own dreams into reality. "In my wildest dreams I never thought I'd be doing this, because this was my wildest dream!" Happy New Year everybody...wishing all of you a terrific first day of 2014! ...and a big thanks to Nick for introducing me to Airdrome Airplanes in Missouri!

Very nice piece. I appreciate Nick's sharing it and your commentary. I hope other photographers do take a look at the historic advantages of large format, as you suggest. I just added another big portrait camera to my studio arsenal. An 11x14 Century #9. I call it "Livin' the Dream".
