Aaron Anderson Photographs a Champion

​​I love sharing a video like this because it's about interpretation, defining a subject and the creativity of the artist. Kara Patterson Winger isn't just a sports celebrity but a champion javelin thrower. And, she's not just a javelin thrower but the American record-holder.

There's a lot of helpful content on Tamron's YouTube channel and somehow back in November when this aired, I missed it! But the fun of our industry is great images are timeless, and I love the video because of the variety of photographs Aaron Anderson captured. Each one seems to define a different aspect of Kara's personality as an athlete and a woman.

​Now put yourself in his shoes and think about how you might tell the story of a portrait client in a variety of different ways. For me, it all starts with getting to know more about the client. Then comes the location which sets the mood, along with the lighting and the poses, bringing everything together in Aaron's style as an artist.
