The Tamron Theater

"All of us tend to think of Tamron as a great manufacturer of optics. Let's face it, they make GREAT glass, but there's another aspect to Tamron's incredible presence in the industry. They believe in education and support for photographers who are working professionals, aspiring pros and serious hobbyists. They're all about helping you with the quality of every image you capture, from their workshops and Tailgate Tour to tech support online, Customer Service and all of their educational material.

In the Tamron Theater we're sharing videos, podcasts, guest posts and images from some of the very best artists in the world.

Welcome to the Tamron Theater!"

Willie Nelson first sang the words, but the Tamron Tech Team is walking the talk. They're back this year with a full tour of terrific seminars all dedicated to helping you raise the bar on your images, no matter what your specialty might be.

I've written a lot about this team because they're one of the most diverse groups of artists in the industry. They're also one of the most fun to work with!

The May schedule for the FREE seminars is below, but the excitement of each program starts much earlier in the day. At each location a Tamron Tech Team member will be in the store to answer all of your photographic questions. Here's your chance to bring in your camera and test some of the very finest optics in photography today.

Click on the individual program below to register for the FREE seminar. And if a city nearest you isn't listed for May, check out the entire schedule for each date along with future locations, with a click on the Tamron "Keep on Clicking" banner above.

Last week I shared a post featuring Tamron's SP 150-600mm lens. I love the quality of Tamron's glass, but I picked this lens because of the way Tamron showed it on their website, sharing images from different artists, the specifications and even a terrific video featuring a few minutes with Kristofer Rowe. They couldn't have done a better, more detailed job of giving photographers everything they needed to know about this lens. It was technical "storytelling" at its very best.

Well, yesterday it was announced Tamron received a TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) Award for the fourth year in a row.
SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 ( Model A022) WINS
"BEST DSLR TELEPHOTO ZOOM LENS"

In the same way we appreciate each other's work from various print competitions like WPPI, PPA and ShutterFest, in the hardware world, Tamron, as a manufacturer, competes on the world stage of technology and quality. While a TIPA Award is obviously global and recognition against competing products, the personal pride shared between all the members of the Tamron team is no different than when your work as an artist is recognized with top honors. It's clearly a team effort. Having worked with so many different members of the Tamron team over the years, I know everyone shares a wonderful level of accomplishment no matter what their role in the company might be.

A BIG congratulations to the Tamron team and a "thank you" for staying true to your goal of making some of the very best optics in imaging, your never-ending focus on education and helping us all raise the bar on the quality of our images!

With so many years in the photographic industry, you can imagine how many images I've seen. Now and then there's one that grabs me and makes me want to see more. It's that special habit-forming ingredient of an artist's work that draws me in to look at more photographs.

I was wandering through Tamron USA's website this morning, and the dynamics of the image above grabbed me. It was all in the detail. Well, that image pulled me into seeing more. Then I took a step back to look at the way Tamron has featured four of its lenses as a lead-in to their website.

With the SP 150-600mm lens, they start the series with a lion shot. It's a great image, but even more impressive to me was the way they shared pictures of people under the sports category.  They took it one step further and gave me four artists to choose from. A click on the drop-down box and I was introduced to three more photographers.

Scrolling down the page, I was able to review every aspect of this remarkable lens! All the specs are easily viewed along with opportunities to "meet" other photographers, including an outstanding profile video featuring Kristofer Rowe.

Do yourself a favor - whether you're in the market for a new lens or not, just click on the banner below and take a scroll through Tamron's website. They're sharing one of the most detailed online experiences I've seen, as they take us through what's become some of the finest imaging optics in the world. And, at the same time, you're going to meet some remarkable artists whose work needs to be on your radar!

At a time where so many companies tease us with the "short story" - Tamron is going the other direction and giving us ALL the information.  They've made the experience educational, convenient and fun! Remember "fun?" These days it's one of those words too often lost in tedious detail when you're wandering through a manufacturer's website, but NOT Tamron! They're manufacturing some amazing optics, but also focused on education and sharing the story of each "member" of their optical family.

What a kick! This is great stuff!
