The Tamron Theater

"All of us tend to think of Tamron as a great manufacturer of optics. Let's face it, they make GREAT glass, but there's another aspect to Tamron's incredible presence in the industry. They believe in education and support for photographers who are working professionals, aspiring pros and serious hobbyists. They're all about helping you with the quality of every image you capture, from their workshops and Tailgate Tour to tech support online, Customer Service and all of their educational material.

In the Tamron Theater we're sharing videos, podcasts, guest posts and images from some of the very best artists in the world.

Welcome to the Tamron Theater!"

If you're headed to Atlanta for IUSA 2016, make it a point to swing by the Tamron booth. It's your chance to not only check out their two new prime lenses, the SP35mm and SP45mm, but also an opportunity to win one while at the show.

I've written a lot about these two new lenses since their introduction in September. Tamron is working hard to provide artists with some of the finest optics in imaging today, and these two lenses are just the beginning!

While you're at their booth at IUSA, take the time to check out Tamron's complete lineup. It's also an opportunity to meet their tech team and some of the most creativity artists in the industry. These are people who need to be in your network.

The short video below was created by Photodex for an episode of SPTV. It's a great way to highlight the quality and versatility of Tamron's two new members of the family.

Just click on the banner on the right to find out more about the SP35mm and SP45mm lenses.

See you in Atlanta!

Intro by Skip Cohen

Tamron's Image Masters are an amazing group representing some of the most creative and talented artists in the industry.  There's virtually no area of photography they're not passionate about. Their skills expand into education, writing and business, and their expertise is in weddings, landscape, fine art, macro, portraiture and the list goes on and on.

Paul Lucia is an Image Master, and we chose a topic near and dear to so many of us, special projects. Regardless of your core business, special projects help keep your passion alive. No matter what you're shooting day in day out for clients, having a special project keeps you creative.  It's a reminder of why you got into photography in the first place.

Paul's no stranger to special projects, having started Project 24.  There have been two Project 24's to date with a third planned for December 2016.

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

Project 24 San Francisco is a hyper-local concentrate of the famed “Day in the Life” series, in which documentary photographers fanned out in one place for one day to make a book...

The rules were set forth by Paul Lucia, a Daly City portrait and wedding photographer, who also selected the date for the shoot — Dec. 21, the shortest day of the year, to ensure there was plenty of darkness to work with.“It’s technically more difficult, and that is intentional,” he says. “I wanted to challenge the photographers.” The photographers were selected by Lucia, with advice from Will Mosgrove, head of the photography department at the Academy of Art, and Ann Jastrab of Rayko Photo Center.

Check out Paul's website and Project 24. Then visit Tamron USA and check out some of the finest optics in photography today. Paul and I talked about the new SP45mm and SP35mm lenses in the podcast - there's nothing that beats great quality, especially in optics!  Paul also talked about his favorite focal length's, depending on what he's shooting. While a good part of his core business is wedding and portraiture, I don't think there's anything Paul can't shoot! I picked a few of my favorite images below from his galleries.

Big thanks to Paul for taking the time for a podcast and another big thanks to the crew at Tamron. They never waiver from their focus on education and helping photographers raise the bar on the quality of their images.
