Like JB Sallee, Dixie Dixon was also a WPPI Hy Sheanin Scholarship winner and it's where I first met her. She was an unknown entity at that time but was one of those people you meet, and you simply know they've got the drive, skill set and passion for succeeding.

I love the way she starts out this mini-webinar episode of "Tiny Talks" because it's so much like many of you.

I started out strictly natural light because I was afraid of strobe, but I've since gotten into the studio...

There are two key points Dixie's making that many of you might miss. First, is the importance of education. To be a successful photographer you never stop learning.  With the almost daily changes in technology - the creative tools available in imaging are always growing. Second, is the importance of understanding lighting and in all honesty, it isn't rocket science. What makes Dixie an outstanding artist is the way she uses light and her creative genes to capture stunning images.

Dixie takes her responsibility with every client and each subject very seriously. Check out her short  "Why?" sound byte from last year and then wander over to Profoto's website to find out more about their game-changing Off Camera Flash System. Many of the images Dixie shares in her Tiny Talks video would not have happened without the flexibility of Profoto's B1 and B2 system.

JB Sallee on "Tiny Talks"

Last week Profoto launched a complete video collection called "Tiny Talks," and I shared Sue Bryce's video in a post. These are mini-webinars, giving you more insight into artists who need to be on your radar.

I wanted to share JB Sallee's this morning for two primary reasons. If you follow my blog than you've heard me talk about friendships being the best part of this industry. I met JB and DeEtte before they were married. JB was the first recipient of the Hy Sheanin WPPI Scholarship a lot of years back. Well that was three kids ago, and along with the growth of the Sallee family has come two amazing skill sets as accomplished artists! I couldn't be more proud to consider them friends, but there's another reason I'm excited about this Tiny Talk.

JB and DeEtte are simply real people - they believe in family values, integrity, quality and giving back. They're also incredibly open about their feelings for life and each other. JB's episode of "Why?" was all about the first image on the screen in this Tiny Talk. It was one of the most poignant recordings ever shared here at SCU. Just click on the image below to listen to his "Why?"

JB and DeEtte are also outstanding teachers. Check out how much they pack into this two minute video and then visit their website. These are two people who need to be in your network.

I love working with the team at Profoto because they not only make great equipment, they're helping to build great artists. They're always focused on education to help you raise the bar on the quality of your images. And, if you haven't checked out the finest lighting equipment in professional photography - finding a Profoto dealer in their worldwide network is just a click away!

Intro by Skip Cohen

Just this week Profoto launched a complete video collection called "Tiny Talks." Essentially they're mini-seminars which will give you more insight into the artist and at the same time a few minutes of terrific education. Who better for me to feature first from the new series than Sue Bryce?

She's a remarkable artist, educator and presenter.  Remember the 1999 movie "Being John Malkovich?" Think of this short video as Being Sue Bryce.  Sue needs to be in your network. You'll find more about Sue at Sue Bryce Education - just click on the link below.

Last year Sue shared one of her favorite images with me on "Why?" Here's the image she shared. Just click on it to hear her short sound-byte.

And, if you haven't checked out the finest lighting equipment in professional photography - finding a Profoto dealer in their worldwide network is just a click away!
