For the past several years, Photodex and SCU having been working together to help you build a stronger business and skill set.

When we launched "Building Your Business" we were hoping our guests would share some of their experiences. Every conversation, including today's with Roman Kurywczak, has gone beyond our expectations. Each guest has shared their insight into the business of photography, and often their journey as artists, craftsmen and business owners.

Thirty years ago Roman started as a landscape photographer with a passion to build a strong skill set and somewhere down the road, teach. He wanted to help other artists achieve their dreams. Today, he's an accomplished artist and educator, always staying true to his commitment to provide a strong educational experience.Check out his workshop schedule, which in the US is always limited to no more than four attendees, maximizing his ability to help each photographer.

From landscapes to macro, night shots and just about everything in between, there's a reason why Roman is such a well-respected artist. In this new podcast he shared a lot of great insight, including how he's made sure his passion for his family has always stayed in front of his love for the outdoors and nature.

I picked a few of my favorite images from his galleries, and it wasn't easy. Check them out for yourself and you'll see what I mean. Click on any of Roman's images in this post to link to his website.

Roman's video below is a great way to introduce you to another one of his favorite subjects, the night sky. This video was part of a previously published post on the Photodex blog, which is just a click away!

Don't forget to checkout Photodex and the new ProShow 8 just released this past summer. You'll also find more helpful content in the Photodex blog. They're always focused on education and ways to help you raise the bar on your presentations.

Introducing ProShow Effects Pack Volume 7

I know this is going to sound like I'm doing in an infomercial, but Photodex just released their new roundup of special effects for ProShow 8 and it's extensive. Here's why I'm hoping more of you will get on the slideshow bandwagon.

From a business perspective, slideshows are about two things: building a stronger brand and expanding your revenue stream. We're a word-of-mouth industry, and I'm still surprised when I meet artists who don't offer any presentation for their clients or create one as a marketing tool.

For example, we're coming up to the peak of seasonality in professional photography for most of you. Right now all of you should be offering your clients a 30-60 second slideshow holiday card! Imagine the reaction from just one client who you surprise with a slideshow. There's no limit to the word-of-mouth publicity you could get.

This new effects pack requires ProShow Producer 8 or ProShow Web. And, since we're coming up to winter time, one of my favorites is "Flurries" - the perfect addition to a holiday card in December! Drag the cursor to the 4:14 mark on the video to see the animation in full effect.

Being in business as a photographer/artist today is no easy task. You've got to stay on top of technology, consumer trends and most important of all, separate your business from your competitors. You've got to stand out! Photodex is giving you a chance with an unlimited combination of special effects to make your work stand out even more!

This is the perfect time to check out the ProShow blog too. There's so much great content on the blog. New material is being posted regularly, but there's also a lot in the archives, just waiting to be discovered by more of you needing help.

And that's what I love about working with the Photodex team - they're always looking for ways to help you build a stronger skill set.

Intro by Skip Cohen

Here's another perfect example of one of the things I love about the Photodex team. They not only make incredible software for slide shows, but they never stop looking for ways to help you become a better artist!

I found this post in the Photodex archives from just a couple of months ago. Written by Kathy from Photodex, it's all about resources to help you raise the bar on your landscape images. And, regardless of your specialty, just about every photographer at some point, has to capture a landscape scene. For example, so often I've seen wedding portraits done at a spectacular landscape that at best winds up being average. Why? Because the photographer had the passion, but not the understanding of how to capture the scene.

In this post Kathy's giving you eleven different links to great tips on Landscape photography. Again, it doesn't matter what photographic specialty pays the bills - this is about expanding your skills, so you never capture anything but "wow" images when there's a landscape involved.

Your goal should be to make every image in your galleries a "wow" image. A "wow" image is a photograph that's so good; you'd only have to show the one image to get hired!

Now imagine taking your "wow" images and putting them together with a little music and creating your promotional video for your website and future clients! Check out Photodex's new ProShow8 with a click on the thumbnail.

If you're not offering slideshows as part of your product line, you're missing some excellent brand-building, along with revenue. Photodex is just a click away and here to help you be the very best artist you can be!
