I love going through Adorama's educational archives, because there's so much outstanding content. Every video on their AdoramaTV channel on YouTube is an introduction to another technique, artist or concept.

In looking through the archives this morning, the video above really hit home. It's a relatively new episode of Tamara Lackey's reDefine Show. It features two of my most favorite people in photography, Tamara to start and Parker J. Pfister, as her guest.

Parker and I go back to my early Rangefinder and WPPI days. Over the last ten years or more I've watched him grow as an artist and become one of the industry's finest educators.

Many of his images are all about fine art photography and demonstrate not only incredible creativity, but the visions of a true artist.  In this interview with Tamara he takes us through his thought process on many of his most unique and stunning images.

One of the features I loved most in this video is the way Parker takes us through the process of building the shot with his lights. He shares the image on the left below as he added a sixth light and then modified the pose for the final image on the right. His statement in describing this last image says it all:

"...and all we have to do is then work on her pose and we've got our shot. That's straight out of camera. There's no post done. It's all done with lighting...that's what gives our image dimension."

Find out more about Parker with a visit to his website and definitely track his workshops. If he's speaking at a convention or a program near you, run don't walk to get a seat. You'll never be disappointed in anything Parker is sharing, teaching and demonstrating!
