At least twice a month, throughout most of the year, X-Rite Photo & Video hosts some remarkable artists, sharing help on a wide variety of topics. A couple of weeks ago, as I was listening to Don Kamarechka talk about some of the technique for printing his macro-work, I was amazed at his images and the tips he was sharing.

Knowing the value of the content for so many of you I grabbed a few screen shots. With each one I found myself more and more fascinated with Don's journey into macro.

Whether you're dedicated to macro-photography or not, many of you are regularly attempting closeup and macro techniques with images of wedding rings, flowers, champagne glasses, etc. Understanding the process better will help you raise the quality of your images and in turn make your work stand out from the competition.

Each image Don shared had at least two common denominators: the degree of difficulty during the printing process and Don's consistent quest for quality. He never compromises on the quality of any image.

My first "Weekend Wisdom" podcast two years ago at SproutingPhotographer.com was with Don and we talked about his book, Sky Crystals. It was an incredible challenge to print and in this most recent webinar Don talked about why and the importance of being involved each step of the way.

X-Rite's webinar series has become one of the very best educational resources on the Internet and each online workshop is archived. All you need to do is register. It's FREE and Don's program from April 12 is just a click away.

Make sure the images you share are always accurately calibrated. I recently took the color test on the X-Rite website and learned I can't trust my eyes! Calibrate your monitor, printer and PDA, so you're always showing your very best work. As one attendee mentioned in a class I taught at ShutterFest last week,

"Everything I sent out was always too dark, yet it looked fine on my monitor. The reason was my fault and having my monitor turned up too bright and not calibrated. Now, everything, thanks to X-Rite, I send out for printing or sharing is accurate!"

Visit the X-Rite Photo & Video website and check out the very best in color calibration so the quality of your images is never compromised with a click on the banner below. And, if you'd like to see more of Don Komarechka's work click on any of his images.
