Podcasts to Help You Build Your Business
I recently had a chance to spend a little time with Bryan Caporicci and Rob Nowell founders and creators of SproutingPhotographer.com. They're doing so many exciting things, building a resource to help photographers grow and oh yeah, "sprout". I loved their podcasts and the fact they often step outside what you'd normally expect the topics to be in photography. This is about business, marketing and giving you the tools you need to expand and build a successful business. You'll find help from some of the finest experts in business today.

Expanding Your Storytelling - Babies and Macro Photography with Brooke Bryand
Although there's probably nothing Brooke Bryand can't shoot, her passion is photographing babies. Even more exciting is the way she uses a macro lens to create stunning high-impact images of each of her subjects. It was definitely a fun interview to do as Brooke talked about the importance of relationship building, especially with babies. You'll hear her talk about her "Ten Second Rule" and the importance of developing a level of trust and curiosity right from the start.
This podcast is all thanks to Tamron USA and their incredible focus on education and helping photographers raise the bar in the quality of their work. They also make some great glass and Brooke talks about her favorite, the 90mm f2.8 macro lens.
This podcast is part of a daily double, so check out Brooke's guest post here on the SCU site. She's shared three terrific tips to help you establish a stronger style of your own when photographing kids and using a macro lens.

Vanessa Joy Talks About Many of the Common Fears of Professional Photographers
by Skip Cohen
My first real introduction to Vanessa Joy was in her video for Profoto, Moving From Natural Light to Creating Light with the Profoto B1. In just two minutes she shared a remarkable amount of information, which later led to a couple of phone calls, a guest post featuring her challenge with nineteen groomsmen and now a podcast. Just like her relationships with her clients, Vanessa exceeds expectations with everything she does. There is no room for compromise in the quality of her images, marketing, educational programs or friendships.
In this new podcast Vanessa talks about several of the more common fears wedding photographers deal with along with some insight into her own business and continued quest for perfection.
This podcast is a "daily double" with a guest post by Vanessa on suggestions for posing large groups. If you'd like to see more of Vanessa's work check out her website and her educational venue, Learn Photo Video, created together with her husband, cinematographer, Rob Adams.

I've known Beverly and Tim Walden for most of my career in professional photography and couldn't be more excited to have them join me on a podcast. They set the standard for quality and beauty in classic portraiture. In fact, tying to pull some of their images to share with you here became impossible. Whether black and white, color studies of "Beau Visage", every image is stunning. Visit their website and check out the three main galleries and you'll see what I mean.
In this new podcast, sponsored by Breathing Color, Beverly and Tim talk about the challenges in the industry today; staying true to everything they believe in and the importance of education and constantly working to build great relationships with their clients. It's not easy working with your spouse or another family member, but they talk very openly on the importance of the respect they have for each other, not just as husband and wife, but as artists, business owners and co-workers!
