Earlier this week I published a post about Profoto's website and the way they've made understanding their accessories interactive. Wandering through the X-Rite Photo & Video website, I found this Color IQ test. I took it and thought I'd have close to a perfect score - NOT! I was way off on each band, usually in the same general area towards the end of each color tone.
I know everybody's got better things to do than check their Color IQ. However, if you're just eyeballing the color calibration of your prints and the images you show on your phone or iPad, then your IQ test when it comes to seeing color might be the best investment of your time all day!
Seriously, there's so much at stake. You're working to create the finest images of your career and then trusting your eyes versus technology. It's especially sad when you consider how easy it is to calibrate your monitor, printer, phone, and iPad. As I've said before, if a low-tech knucklehead like me can do it, then anybody can!
Stop trusting the quality of your images to your eyes and learn how to color calibrate the electronic side of your life. Don't risk mediocrity on an image that has the potential to be spectacular.
Take the IQ test yourself by clicking on the test above! Then take a scroll through the rest of X-Rite Photo & Video's website. You'll find loads of helpful information, and I can promise you'll never be disappointed with the results!
