Going back to a high school reunion forty years later we started talking. I was in the process of divorce and she'd pretty much given up on the idea of finding the right guy. A great friendship started that year and we got married on the back porch of our house in Akron in June, 2010.
No need to go into any more of our story, but here's the fun thing of throwback pictures. We've often looked at old photographs from her stash and every now and then I'm in one. It might be a party from elementary school or something from junior high or high school...but there we are, not as a couple, just occupying the same place on the planet at the same time.
The shot above really brings back memories and questions like..."What ever happened to....?" Growing up in a small town, a lot of our friends/classmates just stayed local, but then there are a few who I'd love to track down. Phil Bendell is one - the kid on my left. I remember him moving away around 7th grade to California, which really did become the other side of the planet until much later in life.
I have a lot of fun every Thursday, trying to dig out old pictures from the photography world, as well as my personal life. What's also fun for me is hearing that a lot of you are doing the same. It sure puts things in perspective for the career path we've all chosen and creates a real appreciation for the value of every image you capture for a client today. Today's images for you and your clients are going to be tomorrow's cherished memories. Don't compromise on a single aspect of any image, especially the quality. You never know what it's going to mean to somebody years from now.
Anyway, nothing beats the fun of Throwback Thursday and especially today, since it's Sheila's birthday. So to my best buddy, my wife, my muse, my partner and so often my inspiration - sure do love ya! Time to head to the beach for the afternoon!
